Finland and permits for extraordinary transport
When organizing emergency transport Finland, it is important to know in advance when the transport enters the permit zone and what rules apply to the route. Finland applies different free dimensions for vehicles registered in EU/EEA countries and vehicles from other countries.
This guide provides an overview of the key regulations for abnormal transport permit Finland, so you can plan the transport more efficiently and avoid delays, penalties and unnecessary costs.
Free dimensions without permit
In Finland, a special permit is not required as long as the vehicle remains within the standard dimensions. The dimensions vary depending on whether the vehicle is registered in an EU/EEA country or outside.
| Vehicle | EU/EEA countries | Other countries |
|---|---|---|
| Tractor unit + semi-trailer | up to 30m × 4m × 4.4m – 48t | up to 16.5m × 2.55m × 4m – 40t |
| Truck + trailer | up to 25.25m × 4m × 4.4m – 36t–60t | up to 18.75m × 2.55m × 4m – 36t–40t |
As soon as you exceed one of the limits for length, width, height or weight, a corresponding permit is required before entering Finland or before entering a route that requires it.
