Sweden and permits for extraordinary transport
When organizing emergency transport Sweden, it is important to know in advance when the transport enters the permit zone and what rules apply to the route. In Sweden, the rules are precise, and the restrictions vary by road type, driving time and load dimensions.
This guide provides an overview of the key regulations for abnormal transport permit Sweden, so you can plan the transport more efficiently and avoid delays, penalties and unnecessary costs.
Free dimensions without permit
In Sweden, a special permit is not required as long as the vehicle remains within the standard dimensions listed below.
| Vehicle / Combination | Free dimensions | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Width | up to 3.5 m | Standard transport |
| Height | up to 4.5 m | Standard transport |
| Length (length exceeded only) | up to 30 m | If only the length is exceeded |
| Length (length + other dimension) | up to 24 m | If, in addition to the length, another dimension is exceeded |
| 2+3 axle combination | 42 t (18 t tractor + 24 t semi-trailer) | Max. permissible weight |
| 3+3 axle combination | 48 tons (24 tons + 24 tons) | Max. permissible weight |
As soon as you exceed one of the limits for length, width, height or mass, a corresponding permit is required before entering Sweden or before entering a route that requires it.
