Is a boom lift the same as a telehandler?
No — they are two completely different categories of machines. A telehandler such as a JCB 540 or Manitou MT carries the load with its forks and is used to lift material. A boom lift (elevating work platform / MEWP) such as the Genie SX-180 or XCMG XGS58 carries people in a work basket at heights of up to 60 m. The transport category is the same (both go to lowbed), but the purpose, price and handling requirements are completely different.

The XChassis is Genie's patented axle system that extends for stability on the job site and retracts for transport. In the working position, the machine is wider than the platform of the lowbed trailer — loading is physically impossible without retracting the XChassis. This is a required step before loading the SX-80, SX-105, SX-135 and SX-180 models. We always coordinate this with the machine operator or owner in advance.
